Van Hove scenario for high Tc superconductors
We give a general description of our approach which explains many physical properties in the superconducting and normal states of almost 2D high Tc superconductors (HTSC). This 2D character leads to the existence of Van Hove singularities or saddle points in the band structure of these compounds. 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملVan Hove Singularity and Superconductivity in Disordered Hubbard Model
We apply the Coherent Potential Approximation (CPA) to a simple extended Hubbard model with a nearest and next nearest neighbour hopping for disordered superconductors with s–, d– and p–wave pairing. We show how the Van Hove singularities in the electron density of states enhance the transition temperature Tc for exotic superconductors in a clean and weakly disordered system. The Anderson theor...
متن کاملvan Hove singularities and vortex motion in superconductors
When vortices move in a type-II superconductor under the action of an electric current, they interact with the crystal lattice generating acoustic waves. This results in a radiation-friction component to the vortex dissipation, which peaks at values of vortex velocity where there are phonons in the Brillouin zone of the crystal with matching phase and group velocities ~the van Hove condition!. ...
متن کاملExtended van Hove singularity and superconducting instability in doped graphene.
We have investigated the effects of doping on a single layer of graphene using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We show that many-body interactions severely warp the Fermi surface, leading to an extended van Hove singularity (EVHS) at the graphene M point. The ground state properties of graphene with such an EVHS are calculated, analyzing the competition between a magnetic instability...
